Fielding Overlay was commissioned by the Fonoteca Nacional in Mexico City (November 2019) as part of the ACHC conference. Sounds were repurposed from a prior artwork created with Catherine Clover, which play a combination of Australian soundscapes in a Mexican context. We planted Mexican Feathergrass, a grass now found throughout Australia, to express a ‘broken ecologies’ theme. The work is suggestive of non-human approaches to understandings of globalisation.
